    Lake County News,California – Starbucks opens in Clearlake; more coffee shops in the planning stages

    LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Clearlake’s new Starbucks has opened its doors, with other coffee house projects also in the works and the potential for still more such businesses to be based in the city. Starbucks, located next to Carl’s Junior on Dam Road Extension and next to the Walmart shopping center, was open for business on Monday. Clearlake Mayor Dirk Slooten said the new store has 27 good-paying jobs. “We’re really excited about it,” he said. The work on the new coffee house broke ground in May.     Higher Coffee Consumption Associated with Reduced Risk of Alzheimer’sDaily Coffee News by Roast Magazine

    Research into 200 Australians and their coffee habits over the course of a decade has associated higher coffee consumption with slower cognitive decline. “We found participants with no memory impairments and with higher coffee consumption at the start of the study had lower risk of transitioning to mild cognitive impairment — which often precedes Alzheimer’s disease — or developing Alzheimer’s disease over the course of the study,” lead researcher Samantha Gardener of Australia’s Edith Cowan University (ECU) said in an announcement of the research paper, which was published last week.     On Tuesday, Nov. 2, the COP26 climate summit’s first major deal among 100 world leaders involved a commitment to end or reverse deforestation by 2030. Supported by an approximately $19 billion commitment announced in Glasgow, Scotland, the herculean task would require nations to significantly reevaluate their economic trade and sustainable land management strategies.
