Returning to the Refreshment Outpost for the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is a traditional Kenyan dish — Spicy Githeri. This dish, similar to chili, is accompanied by grains, quinoa, and a fresh, kachumbari slaw.

The flavor palate in this dish is similar to chili. It’s a nice sized dish for the price, making it one of the better vegan options at the festival. The chili flavor does permeate all the vegetables, and it would be nice if they had a flavor of their own. The vegetables are limp instead of crunchy, and the dish is a bit spicy. It’s particularly cumin-heavy. While there’s nothing necessarily wrong with this dish, we’d rather head to Sanaa for African-inspired food, and enjoy other options for the festival.
Copperpoint Brewing Company Key Lime Kölsch, Boynton Beach, Florida (5.5% ABV) – $10.75
3 Daughters Allspice Hard Cider, St. Petersburg, Florida (5.5% ABV) – $10.75
From correspondence with 3 Daughters Brewing: “This allspice is everything nice. Light apple cider is complemented by flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and black pepper in a brew perfect for the fall.”
81Bay Brewing Co. Nairobi Coffee Dark Beer, Tampa, Florida (6.0% ABV) – $10.75
From correspondence with 81Bay Brewing Co.: “Nairobi Coffee Porter has all of the rich roast and semi-sweet chocolate that we love in this style of beer with subtle elements of stone fruit and berries that comes from the coffee itself.”
