    Burger King Is First Fast-Food Chain in the UK to Launch Vegan Chicken Nuggets

    On January 5, Burger King locations across the United Kingdom are launching vegan chicken nuggets. The new menu item is available in six-piece, nine-piece, or 20-piece boxes along with sweet chili dipping sauce. The vegan chicken nuggets were developed by Dutch brand The Vegetarian Butcher—which was acquired by multinational conglomerate Unilever in 2018—and are made from a blend of soy and plant protein and coated in a crispy batter.     Burger King Opens a Fully Vegetarian Restaurant

    A Burger King restaurant in Madrid, Spain, just took all meat off the menu. Rebranded as “Vurger King,” the meat-free location is now serving up 100 percent vegetarian food. Located on one of Madrid’s most iconic boulevards, Paseo del Prado, Vurger King will be open for a limited time. The new, meat-free options were made in partnership with The Vegetarian Butcher, a Dutch vegetarian and vegan meat brand acquired by Unilever in 2018. Menu offerings include a plant-based Whopper and vegan chicken nuggets. Vurger King will also offer a Long Vegetal, a plant-based take on Burger King’s Long Chicken sandwich.

    Burger King’s Impossible Nuggets Burger King Burger King will test Impossible Foods’ meatless nuggets in several markets, making it the first fast-food chain to offer the company’s new chicken alternative.     McDonald’s Apologizes to Customer Left ‘Vomiting’ After Eating Burger

    A lifelong vegetarian who had never eaten meat before was left crying and vomiting after being served a McDonald’s chicken burger instead of a veggie-friendly sandwich. Charlotte Sunshine from Edinburgh, Scotland, bit into what she thought was the veggie deluxe burger, which comes with “red pesto veggie goujons with sandwich sauce and shredded lettuce in a sesame topped bun,” and is served in restaurants across the U.K. The McDonald’s meal was ordered by her boyfriend, Calum Donaghy, via the food delivery service JustEat on June 8.     Wendy’s announces black bean vegetarian burger, international expansion

    Wendy’s is the latest fast-food chain to jump on the vegetarian bandwagon, announcing the release of a black bean burger to be sold on a limited basis in three cities, including Columbus. At the same time, the Columbus-based burger giant announced plans to open dozens of stores in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Wendy’s, which is headquartered in Dublin, will launch the Spicy Black Bean Burger in Columbus, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville next week. The newest sandwich includes a black bean vegetable patty with chipotle jalapenos, melted pepper jack cheese and spicy chipotle sauce. It will be available while supplies last,
