Italian coffee equipment brand Sanremo Coffee Machines has introduced its first professional dual-boiler, single-group espresso machine, the You (styled by the company as YOU). The Sanremo You is currently making its public debut at the HostMilano trade show in Milan, Italy. Pricing information has not yet been disclosed. The compact and modern-looking You features an optional horizontal paddle on the front of the group to modulate water pressure in real time.     Frozen Coffee Capsule Maker Cometeer Scores $35 Million MoreDaily Coffee News by Roast Magazine

Gloucester, Massachusetts-based coffee technology and manufacturing company Cometeer has closed a $35 million Series B funding round, bringing the company’s running total of raised capital to $100 million. The latest cash infusion further cements Cometeer’s position as a specialty-coffee-segment rival to popular single-serve, single-use options like K-Cups or Nespresso pods. Cometeer focuses on the manufacture, sale and cold-shipment of single-serve frozen specialty coffee capsules designed to match peak quality with user convenience. Each recyclable aluminum capsule made by Cometeer contains a puck of coffee

    Eco-friendly, lab-grown coffee is on the way, but it comes with a catch | Environment

    Heiko Rischer isn’t quite sure how to describe the taste of lab-grown coffee. This summer he sampled one of the first batches in the world produced from cell cultures rather than coffee beans. “To describe it is difficult but, for me, it was in between a coffee and a black tea,” said Rischer, head of plant biotechnology at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, which developed the coffee. “It depends really on the roasting grade, and this was a bit of a lighter roast, so it had a little bit more of a tea-like sensation.” Rischer couldn’t swallow

    Caribou Coffee announces national franchising under Panera Brands

    JAB Holding-owned Caribou Coffee announced Monday that the 718-unit coffee chain is starting a national franchising program. Previously, the brand was only available though non-traditional or licensed locations. This announcement comes on the heels of JAB Holding Co. forming Panera Brands with sister brands fast-casual Panera Bread, Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagels all under one platform. However, Caribou Coffee will not be cobranding with Panera and Einstein Bagels as it expands to new and pre-existing markets like Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado and the Southeast.     Veterans coffee group to meet in downtown Hickory | Local News

Liechtenstein-based Etzinger, maker of the electric EtzMAX series of customizable grinders, has introduced two new hand-powered coffee grinders: the handheld Etz-I and the larger, tabletop-oriented EtzMAN. The company is currently accepting pre-orders for the new models, which like its predecessor is centered around a RRB (Rotating Ring Burr) grinding mechanism, in which the outer ring burr of the conical burr set rotates around a stationary inner cone burr.
