Beach Bites: International Cafe combines humor, food, and a lot of beer

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Their menu is a bit cukoo and to get through it all you might be at the International Cafe around the clock. “The menu is 12 pages long,” says Richard Eberhard, owner of the International Cafe, “because we got all sorts of comics and pictures.” Eberhard’s been in the restaurant business for 45 years. He opened the International Cafe 18-years-ago. There are some unique menu items from around the world throughout the restaurant, but the International Cafe got its name because of what on tap. “When I originally saw the restaurant space for lease,”

    Global Food Protection is Essential

Finland ranks first in the global food security index, followed by Ireland in second place. The United States is 11th, immediately followed by Canada, and then Germany. The lowest ranking countries are Malawi, Zambia, Sudan and Yemen, according to the Global Food Security Index (GFSI), an annual assessment measuring food security. In that same assessment, North America scores highest in food safety, while China scores best in food availability. Europe leads in affordability. I was riding on the light rail a few weeks ago on my way to Pisgat Ze’ev when I passed a stone building with a sign for Efendi, a Turkish restaurant with a large sign advertising that is kosher. When I was offered the chance to visit, I was happy to say yes. There are several things that are a little strange about this restaurant. It is right on the main road between Jerusalem and Pisgat Ze’ev, just north of the “white statue” near the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus. To get to the restaurant I had to make a

World food prices hit 10-year peak -FAO

PARIS, Oct 7 (Reuters) – World food prices rose for a second consecutive month in September to reach a 10-year peak, driven by gains for cereals and vegetable oils, the United Nations food agency said on Thursday. The Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also projected record global cereal production in 2021, but said this would be outpaced by forecast consumption. FAO’s food price index, which tracks international prices of the most globally traded food commodities, averaged 130.0 points last month, the highest reading since September 2011, according to the agency’s data. The figure compared with a revised 128.5 for
